Welcome Week is an initiative of the US Chamber of Connection. The goal; 100,000 invitations sent across America during the week of September 26th – October 4th. National Good Neighbor Day falls during Welcome Week (intentionally)! Below are some ideas for inviting neighbors to National Good Neighbor Day type activities:
- Invite Neighbors to Porch Coffee: Set out coffee and a simple sign on your porch, driveway, or lobby for a quick, low-pressure Saturday morning drop-in.
- Drop “Say Hello” Invitation Cards: Leave short handwritten notes on 5 nearby porches or under apartment doors inviting neighbors to swap contacts on Good Neighbor Day.
- Invite Someone to a Local Spot: Ask a new or unfamiliar neighbor to join you for a local event, casual coffee at a local shop, a walk, or visit to a neighborhood park.
- Invite Neighbors to a Block Text Chat: Ask the 5–8 closest homes to join a quick group chat for package drops, updates, and borrowing tools.
- Set Up Yard Games & Lemonade: Put out a pitcher of lemonade or a simple lawn game, and invite passersby on your street to stop and chat.
